Ludacris will be dropping his first all-original mixtape in anticipation of his upcoming Ludaversal album. According to Luda, the mixtape will also commemorate his 10-year anniversary of his major label debut, Back for the First Time.

“I’m working on a new album called Ludaversal, but I’m also working on a mixtape,” he said. “We gonna flood the streets with a bunch of music for all the fans that appreciate that.”

“It’s like my first album actually doing that,” he added. “I’ve done mixtapes before, but in terms of it’s going to be new music. We’re going to put it out there and it’s been 10 years, like I said. It’s been a decade long, so I feel like it’s that time. It’s just rejuvenation. We gotta make sure we give everybody what they need right now.”

Dr. Dre & Just Blaze Announce Album Release

After years of speculation, it looks like the most anticipated album in the history of hip hop has gotten closer to actually hitting stores. Dr. Dre’s Detox may have an official release date. Dr. Dre has recruited fellow superproducer Just Blaze to help make the announcement regarding the album’s possible release. [video here]

In a video released online, Dr. Dre says cryptically “4/20–4/20, baby–I’m coming!”

In keeping with the marijuana-theme in all of Dr. Dre’s solo albums, Detox’s 4/20 release date is an unofficial holiday for pot smokers. The album was originally set for release in February, but the April date seems to be the official release.

For now, at least.

”TM103” Pushed Back A Month

Jeezy has announced that his fourth solo album, TM 103, will not be released on August 31st as anticipated, but has been pushed back to September 28th. Andre 3000 and Lil Jon, are among the confirmed guests. Lil Jon appears on just-leaked song “Jizzle”, which is produced by longtime Jeezy studio partner Shawty Redd.

Both “Lose My Mind” and “All White Everything” are believed to be on TM103, which will close out what has been a banner summer for Def Jam. The label has released high profile albums from Big Boi, The Roots and Rick Ross and will also be releasing Kanye West’s latest in the weeks leading up to Jeezy’s album dropping.

Rapper Praises Fans, Talks Goodie MOB’s Future

Khujo Goodie’s unexpected arrest and even more unexpected release from prison seems to have rejuvenated the Atlanta rap veteran and his legendary crew, Goodie MOB. According to the rapper’s lawyer, Daniel Kane, Khujo, (born Willie Knighton Jr.), was convicted on three felony charges in two separate incidents: one for possession of a firearm and one for having marijuana in his possession. Due to a 1990 gun charge, prosecutors sentenced Khujo as a convicted felon. But the 1990 charge was legally void and, under the First Offender Act, should have been removed from Khujo?s record. This allowed Kane to get the rapper released from prison. “[That's] the Most High,” Khujo told HipHopBlog.com. “My family was with me. The Goodie MOB was with me. We went in there and showed them what was up, they gave me a bond and let me out.” The rapper was quick to credit fan support and his Dungeon Family partners for helping see him through the ordeal. “When times get tight, the family gets together,” he said. “Praise Jah.”

As far as the music, Khujo and his Goodie MOB bandmate Big Gipp assured fans that things are back on track now for the return of the beloved crew, who built their reputation in the mid-to-late 90s on the strength of two acclaimed LPs, Soul Food and Still Standing, that featured a socially-conscious and undeniably Southern point of view. “A lot of people have had their time and fun with the game, but its time for the elders to come back and lay the groundwork,” Gipp said. “If you know the Goodie MOB, you already know what we’re gonna come with. A lot of people out here are doing a lot music for a lot of different reasons; but if you can’t tour on your music, you ain’t said nothing. We’ll always be able to tour–for the rest of our life.”

“if it wasn’t for the type of music that we put out, I don’t think people would respect us like they respect us,” Khujo added. “Our thing is relating to the people; we’re just like the people. That’s who we are.” Gipp revealed, “We just released a mixtape called Stray Bullets, its got a Goodie MOB song on there called “Night Train.” Cee-Lo has a video coming for a song called “I Could’ve Loved You” featuring Eminem. We’re about to strategically start putting the album [together.] We’re not gonna discuss what label we’re on right now because we don’t want everybody bombarding them doors [laughs]. We just sitting back watching the news to see what we’re gonna come with.”
