Nigerian Songwriter Receives Label Chain In London

Rapper Kanye West celebrated his G.O.O.D. Music imprint’s signing of Nigerian singer-songwriter D’banj by showcasing the artist for adoring fans in London. West welcomed D’banj into the G.O.O.D. Music family by presenting his newest signee with a G.O.O.D. Music chain in front of the crowd.

“I don’t know if y’all heard or not, but D’banj is a new artist on G.O.O.D. Music,” West said after performing his hit “All of the Lights.”

West bowed and hugged D’Banj after presenting him with the chain. West himself was presented with a Roc-A-Fella chain in the early 2000s after he was signed as a new artist to Jay’s former label.

DJ Pauly D may have surprised many when it was announced he was joining 50 Cent’s G-Unit label, but the “Jersey Shore” star is dead serious about his career on the label. Pauly revealed recently that he is focused solely on recording and is working closely with 50 himself on projects.

He says that the two of them are currently working on an album.

“I’m focusing on music. That’s my my passion. I’m working with 50 Cent now. I’m gonna do an album with him. It’s going to be a little bit of everything,” Pauly D tells Billboard. “It’s almost like DJ Khaled and kind of David Guetta but my own DJ Pauly D style.”

No I.D. Says Superstar Is Back In the Studio

Jay-Z had a busy August, with the release of he and Kanye West’s blockbuster Watch the Throne album and the announcement that he is expecting his first child with wife Beyonce. But according to producer No I.D., Jay is already hard at work on new music.

“Jay has started again,” he told The Juice. “He played me a couple of things. I gave him some music while we were at the Watch the Throne sessions. But with Jay, you never know what he’s really doing, thinking, planning until it’s really done… I’m sure he’ll make a decision one day to make an album very quickly, like he usually does. He’s one of the best, period. I think he’s at a place where he has visions of what he wants to do, and it’s not really dependent on any of us. It’s dependent on his vision and he’s gonna do it, [and] hopefully I’ll be involved.”

No word yet on what the tracks are specifically for or when the music being recorded will be released.

Rapper Featured On Popular Biographical Series

Rapper Nelly will be featured in an upcoming episode of VH1s popular and acclaimed series “Behind the Music.” The St. Louis native joins hip hop superstars and legends, including Run-DMC, Busta Rhymes and T.I., to be featured on the show.

Nelly will open up about his childhood and early missteps on the road to superstardom, as well as his commercial peak in the early 2000s, as well as his sharp decline in popularity and run-ins with other stars.

Nelly will also speak about his relationship with R&B star Ashanti and the death of his sister Jackie from Leukemia despite the rapper’s best efforts to sustain his sister’s health.

The episode premieres Monday, March 7th at 10:00 PM EST.
