Rappers Eminem and Yelawolf are gracing one of two covers for VIBE magazine’s year-end issue. The two Shady Records cohorts discussed the always-relevant topic of being white rappers in hip hop, and the ways that they cope with the obvious scrutiny.
“We make jokes about it, but I don’t think we talk about it in depth,” said Em. “As I was listening to his music, I am not even thinking about any of that sh*t. It’s just the music. That’s one of the things that’s great about it. I’m not even thinking about it when I hear the music.”“We do poke fun of it because it’s funny,” added Yela. “Like, he calls me White Dog.”
Yelawolf is one of the most promising acts on Em’s Shady imprint, with his debut album Radioactive due to be released next week (November 21st.)

”He Knows Where I Want To Go”

Alabama emcee Yelawolf recently revealed that he has been working with Eminem at Marley Marl’s Las Vegas studio. Wolf’s Shady Records debut will feature production from Em.
“He was just excited man, which made me even more excited about it,” he says. “So we set up some time to work for Marshall to get in and do some production on it and do some arrangements, of course, for music. Kind of to coach the album. I get besides myself thinking really thinking of having him to really go to for advice on how to structure records and just whatever possible. Just using the genius. He’s psyched.”
There’s a real mutual respect as far as being MC’s and as songwriters, and he sees where I want to be,” he continued. “He knows where I want to go, and he’s just there to help me get to that point. Shady’s like my first real opportunity to let the world hear my music.”
