Conservative Network Criticizes White House Invite

Fox News has blasted a Michelle Obama White House invitation to rapper/actor Common. The First Lady extended the invite to Common for an upcoming poetry event, and the conservative news network roundly criticized the invitation, referring to Common as a ‘vile rapper.’
Under a ‘Michelle Obama Hosting Vile Rapper At White House?’ headline reads a story that paints Common as a violent malcontent of an artist. “First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she’s invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA “Common.” However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the “burn[ing]” of then-President George W. Bush.”
Common laughed off the statements via Twitter. “You ain’t scared of me?” the rapper tweeted playfully to The Roots’ ?uestlove. “So apparently Sarah Palin and Fox News doesn’t like me.”

Actor and rapper Nick Cannon appeared on Fox Business to debate Common’s appearance at the White House, which Nick says has been “silly”. “I just feel Common is being falsely accused for some song,” Cannon said about his friend. “I mean Common has made some of the most enlightening and even, he has a pro-life record that he did with Lauryn Hill that no one even [talks about].” He also talked about being a father after his wife Mariah Carey gave birth to twins.
