contestant Fantasia Barrino recently admitted that she decided not to attend the 53rd Grammy Awards due to the fact that she had not been asked to pay tribute to ultimate diva Aretha Franklin.
Although Barrino was nominated for an award, and in fact won the honor for Best Female Vocal Performance, she decided to boycott the ceremony and instead stayed at home on her own.
The singer recently spoke with 106 & Park, which is hosted by BET, in order to explain her absence from the show.

Charlotte’s WCNC.com reports Fantasia Barrino was rushed to a North Carolina hospital last night where she was treated for a “medication overdose.” Sources at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville say the ‘American Idol’ season three winner’s condition is not life threatening. The sources added that they were not aware of the type of medication involved, nor whether the overdose was accidental or intentional.
